Hello to everyone!
I hope you have had a wonderful holiday. Mine certainly has been. All of my family pitched in to bring me home for a
three week Christmas visit! It has been great! I return to India in one week, on the 12th, but the break has been welcome
and the faces of all my family was a sight for sore eyes.
I had the privilege of spending the new year with two of my son’s – Jared and Jackson, and some other friends in New Orleans.
Though my football team, Alabama, didn’t win the Sugar Bowl that was played there, we had a great time anyway, and
Jackson helped me work on my project Global Graffiti.
If you haven’t seen Global Graffiti yet, it’s a project that gives people a chance to respond to various questions, sharing their opinion
on a white-board. For me, it ‘s been educational and fun – an adventure within an adventure.
It has given me a reason to talk to people I would not have, and relate with them in ways I wouldn’t normally think about.
WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE U.S.A?
That has been one of the questions asked in Global Graffiti because everyone has something to say about it.
I have learned that, when answering this question, almost all of Asia is polite. Almost all of Europe is not. Australia is unreserved. The Middle East has
keen, educated opinions, and Sri Lanka is afraid our drones are coming to shoot them. One Japanese girl thought the U.S. could
control the weather, and as I tried to joke about that opinion with a woman from Sweden, she stopped my laughter short by taking the
suggestion completely seriously and telling me to go look up the project HARRP.
When you look at the pictures from this project, remember, they are only opinions.
However, opinions develop from something, and I hope we can take the opportunity to be interested and learn, with out taking offense. Besides, after the people in these pics had their say about the U.S., I would turn the question around and ask them about their own government. Usually, they had similar things to say about there own governments. :^P
The U.S.A project has been emotionally H E A V Y for me.
So, for the New Year, I began another Project Question and chose something a bit lighter in spirit…
DO YOU HAVE ANY GOOD ADVICE FOR THIS YEAR?
People do and did. Over two days we captured more than 70 images. Even though this question
was launched in New Orleans, it will travel with me as I go and more pics will
be added as I travel.
Check the rest out….
Thanks for following this blog and all the support you have shown!
May your New Year be amazing.
